At this picturesque small town connected to Tenerife by a ferry-boat, Christopher Columbus made halt on his travel to America.
He received help of Doña Maria de Bobadilla, the widow of Grafen Peraza, to repair one of his ships, La Pinta.
Many things in San Sebastian remind of those happenings still today, such as the as the Church Iglesia de N.Sra de la Asunción and the port from which Columbus left. Of the Count's fortress, however, only a tower, the Torre del Conde, is conserved .
